The tooth is prepared by the dentist, ground and an imprint is made. The abrased tooth will immediately receive a provisional crown. Thus, the prepared tooth can be protected until the final crown is inserted. The final crown is made in the dental laboratory and attached to the tooth about 5 working days later.
